VI@CI gets a Visitor

HUSB5436

Our visually impaired tennis players had a visit today from Ben Neal. Ben works for Ulster Tennis as the Enjoy Tennis Development Officer.

Ben had been invited to our club by Melanie Stewart, our club outreach officer and VI tennis player. She wanted to show Ben what our VI tennis programme is all about, how it works and what the VI players get out of it. Not only was it an opportunity for Ben to see our players in action but he got to put on a blindfold and have a go himself. VI players play on smaller courts, with a sponge ball that has a bell in it and they have one or two bounces of the ball depending on their particular sight loss.

It was a great morning for tennis and Ben was very impressed with the standard of play. We are delighted that VI@CI were able to showcase what they do.

If you are interested in playing VI tennis or if you would like to act as a volunteer, please contact Mel using the outreach email address.
